A Personal Word from the FOUNDER:

"Why the Adopt a Pastor Project exists"

The experience of fifty-five years on the mission field, with ministries ranging from a pioneer boat ministry on the Amazon River to church planting and publishing in Brazil's modern cities, has caused us to become increasingly aware that the greatest need of the Brazilian church is national leadership solidly grounded in the often neglected Biblical truths that spawned the Reformation.

While numerically the church has grown during this half century, much of it is due to the application of church growth methods which have not produced a regenerate membership.

The opportunity is before us to provide spiritual training for these soldiers who are mostly without the guidance of sound teaching. Through providing theological books and hosting conferences, we can show loving concern for our brethren who are in need of spiritual help.

A Brazillian pastor wrote: “I have seen through this ministry the possibility for change in the evangelical churches of Brazil and even in our society.” It is this hope that encourages us to press on even in the face of adversity. There are still victories to be won.

How the project works:

Many churches have fallen into doctrinal error for want of leadership grounded in sound Biblical doctrine. To help meet this need, FIEL Publishing House (a non-profit Brazilian ministry under the umbrella of CLA) initiated the AAP project, one of four interrelated FIEL ministries, through which a sponsor can help provide tools that will impact a pastor's life and ministry.

Through donations of US$ 30/mo (US$ 360/yr), AAP provides the adopted pastor whith ministerial help by:

Sending him one book a month You will receive a yearly report with the names of the books sent to your pastor. Click on Publications above for a sample of books send to pastors.

Enabling him to attend FIEL’s annual conference for pastors and leaders (An additional US$ 15 a month, or US$ 180 a year, will enable his wife to accompany him to the conference.)

Sponsors are always welcome to attend the conference and meet their adopted-pastor.

AAP is committed to maintain a pastor in the project for a minimum of three years.

By sponsoring a pastor, you will be blessed by the fruit you will see in the life of the pastor, his family, and his flock.

Pastors are encouraged to send bi-monthly letters to their sponsors.

Sponsors are more than welcome to correspond with their pastor. However, to protect the sponsor’s privacy and to allow FIEL to track the overall progress of the ministry, all correspondence should be channeled through FIEL’s office in Brazil.

Below are excerpts from actual letters written by pastors:

"You have no idea what the conference (Fiel Conference 2007) meant in our lives.  My family is still in awe... For two weeks I have been sharing with our church about the theme of the conference--the church wept."
   —Pr. Cesar Teixeira, Brazil

"By God's grace many concepts and theological points of view that were predominant in the minds of many brethren in the congregation where I pastor have been progressively corrected."
   —Pr. Samuel Quimputo, Portugal

"When I opened my mail box yesterday and found the letter informing me that I had been included in the project and that you were my sponsor, my joy was doubled. For more than six years I have been waiting to be included."
—Pr. Jose Carlos de Menezes, Brazil

"Since FIEL began having conferences in Portugal, my colleagues and I have been stimulated by this precious help in our understanding of the Sacred Scriptures."
   —Pr. Rogério Ramos, Portugal

"Your ministry gives us great cause for prayer and rejoicing. I never imagined that I would be able to obtain books in this way--books that are more valuable to me than any treasure. Thanks to you my knowledge has been expanded."
   —Pr.Rogério Clemente, Brazil

How do I make my contribution?

Print, fill out, and send in the Sponsorship Form, indicating the method you wish to use to send your contribution (one form per pastor).

To help you track your contributions, FIEL will send you monthly statements. If you pay by check, we will also send you a return envelope for your next contribution.

Please join us in the task of spreading Biblically sound doctrine to brethren in the countries wherein AAP functions: primarily, Brazil, Portugal, Mozambique, and Angola. We pray that God will bring to fruition this grand and costly endeavor  made possible through faithful contributions of willing sponsors.
